Durable 304 stainless steel jars for versatile laboratory and industrial milling
Cell Lab stainless steel grinding jars are precision-engineered from Grade 304 austenitic stainless steel (18 % Cr, 8 % Ni) – commonly known as 18/8 stainless.
Combining corrosion resistance, structural integrity, and moderate abrasion resistance, they are ideal for laboratory and pilot-scale milling of medium-hard or brittle materials.
These jars are widely employed in metallurgy, electronics, ceramics, construction materials, chemical engineering, medicine, environmental testing, and pigment or ink production.
Robust stainless-steel construction – fabricated from 304 Fe-Cr-Ni alloy for excellent corrosion resistance and durability.
Reliable mechanical performance – hardness ≤ 187 HB and density 7.93 g/cm³ ensure consistent, reproducible milling.
Broad application range – suitable for medium-hard and brittle samples in laboratory and industrial environments.
Secure sealing system – supplied with lid and silicone gasket to maintain airtight conditions during milling.
Optional grades available – 316 or 316L stainless steel can be specified for food, pharmaceutical, or high-corrosion applications.

Cell Lab stainless steel grinding jars are ideal for:
Metal and alloy powder processing – milling, homogenising, and mechanical alloying.
Ceramic and mineral sample grinding – geological and metallurgical preparation.
Chemical and pharmaceutical laboratories – powder dispersion and formulation studies.
Environmental testing and materials research – sample pulverisation and particle size control.
Paint and pigment production – uniform colourant and ink dispersion under controlled conditions.
Q1: What is the difference between 304 and 316 stainless steel jars?
A: Grade 304 is suitable for general laboratory use; Grade 316 offers higher corrosion resistance and is recommended for acidic or pharmaceutical applications.
Q2: Can these jars be used for wet milling?
A: Yes. Each jar is equipped with a silicone sealing gasket to prevent leakage during wet or dry operations.
Q3: Are they compatible with planetary ball mills and roller mills?
A: Yes. The standard cylindrical design fits most common laboratory milling machines and industrial roller systems.
Q4: What grinding media should be used?
A: Use stainless steel balls of the same grade (304 or 316) to avoid cross-contamination and achieve uniform milling efficiency.
Q5: How can I extend the service life of stainless steel jars?
A: Clean immediately after use, avoid over-impact loading, and store dry. Replace gaskets periodically to maintain airtight sealing.
