Large-diameter stainless steel split die set for high-volume pellet preparation
Cell Lab Split Type Dry Pellet Pressing Die Sets are designed for producing large cylindrical pellets from a wide variety of powders. Manufactured from 440C stainless steel with indenter hardness RC60–62, these dies deliver precision, durability, and resistance to wear.
The split sleeve design allows for easy demoulding and minimises the risk of pellet cracking, especially for fragile or brittle powders such as ceramics, minerals, and pharmaceutical formulations. With multiple cavity sizes ranging from 50 mm to 100 mm, this series is ideally suited for laboratories and industries requiring large-volume pellet formation for spectroscopy, metallurgy, and analytical testing.
Multiple diameters — Available in 50 mm, 76.2 mm (3"), 80 mm, and 100 mm cavity sizes.
Split sleeve construction — Enables safe demoulding and reduces pellet damage.
High-strength stainless steel — Built from 440C stainless steel, hardened to RC60–62.
Versatile powder compatibility — Suitable for ceramics, minerals, metals, and pharmaceutical powders.
Industrial & laboratory ready — Applicable to FTIR, XRF, powder metallurgy, geology, and composite research.

Infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) — Preparation of large KBr and halide pellets.
Powder metallurgy — High-volume compaction of metal powders.
Ceramics & composites — Pressing of advanced ceramic materials and composites.
Pharmaceuticals — Large pellet pressing for drug formulation testing and QC.
Geology & minerals — Reliable sample preparation for analytical characterisation.
Q1: Why use a split type die for large pellets?
It simplifies demoulding and prevents cracking, which is common with large-diameter fragile pellets.
Q2: What powders can these dies handle?
They are compatible with ceramics, metallic powders, minerals, pharmaceutical compounds, and composite materials.
Q3: Which sizes are available?
Standard sizes include 50 mm, 76.2 mm (3"), 80 mm, and 100 mm. Custom diameters can be made on request.
Q4: What is the maximum cavity depth?
Depending on the model, cavity depth ranges from 55 mm to 70 mm.
Q5: How should these dies be maintained?
Clean and dry after each use. Apply a light coat of oil for long-term storage to prevent rust.
