Stainless steel porous dies for high-surface-area pellet preparation in catalysis, energy storage, and materials research
Cell Lab Porous Pressing Die Sets are precision-engineered tools for producing porous pellets and compacts from powdered materials. Manufactured from 440C stainless steel with indenter hardness HRC60–62, these dies provide strength, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance under repeated high-pressure use.
The unique porous design allows the formation of interconnected pore networks within the pressed sample, which is critical in catalysis, gas absorption, energy storage, solid-state battery research, and advanced materials development. Available in 50 mm, 90 mm, and 120 mm diameters, these dies support both laboratory-scale studies and larger-scale industrial testing.
Porous cavity design — Enables controlled pore formation for high surface area materials.
High-strength stainless steel — Made from 440C stainless steel, hardened to HRC60–62.
Multiple diameters available — Standard options: 50 mm, 90 mm, and 120 mm.
Broad material compatibility — Ideal for catalysts, battery powders, ceramics, and pharmaceuticals.
Customisable hole pattern — Size and number of pores can be tailored to application needs.
| Product No. | Reference Sample Size | Cavity Depth (mm) | Die Material | Indenter Hardness | Dimensions (mm) | Weight |

Q1: What is the advantage of a porous die set?
It allows pellets to be formed with interconnected pores, enhancing surface area for catalysis, adsorption, and electrochemical reactions.
Q2: Can pore size and number be customised?
Yes. Cell Lab can design custom dies with specific hole sizes, numbers, and arrangements.
Q3: What materials are suitable for porous pellet pressing?
Catalysts, carbon materials, metal oxides, battery electrode powders, pharmaceuticals, and ceramic composites.
Q4: How should the die be maintained?
Store in a dry environment, clean after use, and apply light oil to prevent rust during long-term storage.
Q5: Are porous pressing dies consumables?
Yes. They are consumables, with warranty covering only manufacturing defects.
