Cell Lab Porous Aluminium Foam Sheet [300 × 200 × 10 mm] – Lightweight, High-Strength 3D Substrate for Battery, Sensor & Catalysis Research

Open-cell aluminium foam with exceptional thermal conductivity and mechanical stability for advanced energy and sensor applications

The Cell Lab Porous Aluminium Foam Sheet offers a unique balance of light weight, structural rigidity, and high porosity, making it a versatile substrate for battery, catalysis, and sensor development. Engineered from >98% pure aluminium, its open-cell framework provides excellent heat dissipation, mechanical reinforcement, and electrolyte permeability, enabling efficient charge transport and stable operation in electrochemical systems.

With up to 80% porosity and a through-hole rate of ≥98%, this foam supports uniform electrode coating, rapid gas exchange, and efficient catalytic reactions. It is widely used in thermal management, energy absorption, and noise reduction systems, as well as in metal–air batteries and supercapacitor electrode scaffolds. Customisable dimensions and pore structures are available to meet specific research needs.

Key Features

Exceptional Porosity (up to 80%)
Open-cell structure ensures high surface area for optimal electrolyte diffusion and material interaction.

Lightweight with High Mechanical Strength
Combines rigidity and low density, offering both structural and functional benefits for R&D applications.

Excellent Thermal & Electrical Conductivity
Ideal for heat dissipation and current collection in high-performance electrochemical devices.

Versatile Functional Applications
Suitable for batteries, supercapacitors, catalysis, acoustic insulation, and thermal energy absorption.

Customisable Geometry
Available in standard 300 × 200 × 10 mm sheets; pore size, thickness, and density can be tailored upon request.

FAQ

Q1: What advantages does aluminium foam offer over copper or nickel foam?
It provides a lighter structure, higher heat dissipation, and lower cost, though with slightly reduced electrical conductivity.

Q2: Can the porosity or thickness be customised?
Yes. Both pore size and foam thickness can be adjusted upon request to suit specific research or engineering needs.

Q3: Is it suitable for high-temperature or vacuum use?
Yes. Aluminium foam performs well under thermal and vacuum conditions up to several hundred degrees Celsius.

Q4: Does it require surface cleaning before use?
If oxidation is present, the foam can be gently cleaned with diluted acid or ethanol prior to application.

Q5: Can it serve as a current collector in batteries?
Yes. Its high conductivity and porosity make it a promising 3D current collector for metal–air or solid-state systems.
