Cell Lab Natural Brazilian Agate Milling Media Balls [High Purity | 3–30 mm | For Planetary Ball Mills]

Ultra-pure, contamination-free grinding media for precision laboratory milling

The Cell Lab™ Natural Brazilian Agate Milling Media Balls are manufactured from high-purity natural agate (≥ 97.26 % SiO₂), offering superior hardness, minimal contamination, and chemical inertness. Engineered for planetary and laboratory ball mills, these spherical grinding media deliver consistent particle size reduction for both wet and dry milling of powders, ceramics, and advanced materials.

With a density of 2.65 g/cm³ and Mohs hardness 7.2–7.5, they provide excellent durability and extremely low abrasion rates—perfect for battery R&D, ceramics processing, spectroscopy sample prep, and fine-powder homogenisation.

Key Features

• High-Purity Natural Agate (≥ 97.26 % SiO₂)
Ensures zero chemical interference, making it ideal for trace-element or purity-sensitive material analysis.

• Exceptional Hardness and Durability
Mohs 7.2–7.5 ensures long service life and stable milling performance even under intensive grinding conditions.

• Low Contamination Risk
Non-porous, polished surface prevents metal or oxide contamination, ensuring clean and reproducible milling results.

• Broad Compatibility
Suitable for agate, zirconia, alumina, and stainless-steel jars—perfect for planetary and laboratory-scale mills.

• Optimised Diameter Range (3–30 mm)
Different sizes enable coarse crushing, fine grinding, and uniform powder homogenisation across varied sample types.

FAQ

Q1: Why choose agate over zirconia or stainless-steel balls?
A1: Agate offers superior chemical inertness and ultra-low abrasion, ensuring sample purity for analytical and battery applications.

Q2: Can these be used for both wet and dry milling?
A2: Yes — they are suitable for both wet dispersion and dry pulverisation processes.

Q3: What is the maximum feed size for efficient grinding?
A3: For optimal performance, use feed sizes ≤ 10 mm with larger (30–40 mm) balls.

Q4: Do they require conditioning before use?
A4: Rinse with ethanol or deionised water to remove surface residues before first use.

Q5: Are they compatible with non-agate jars?
A5: Yes, but agate jars are recommended for maximum purity and hardness matching.
