Compact vertical planetary mill for ultrafine grinding in laboratory environments
The Cell Lab High-Energy Vertical Planetary Ball Mill series provides precision performance for ultrafine grinding, dispersion, and homogenisation in research and small-scale production.
Designed for R&D in materials science, chemistry, pharmaceuticals, and battery materials, this series supports both dry and wet milling modes using a broad range of compatible jars and media types.
Equipped with an advanced touchscreen control interface, the system allows programmable milling segments, time intervals, and reversible rotation.
Its stable gear-driven structure ensures low noise, minimal vibration, and reliable long-term operation.
With working capacities from 1 L to 8 L, it is the preferred choice of laboratories and institutions worldwide for sub-micron and nanometre-level particle refinement.
Touchscreen controller – intuitive interface enables easy programming of milling segments, intervals, and reverse rotation options.
Precision gear drive – ensures stable, low-noise, and low-vibration performance for consistent particle size distribution.
Wide material compatibility – handles ceramics, battery electrodes, metal powders, pharmaceuticals, and pigments.
Flexible jar options – compatible with stainless steel, zirconia, agate, alumina, tungsten carbide, nylon, PU, and PTFE jars; vacuum versions available.
Safety and reliability – secured jar holders, transparent viewport, emergency shutoff, and ISO 9001 / CE certification.

Cell Lab vertical planetary ball mills are widely used in:
Battery R&D – fine grinding and homogenising cathode/anode powders.
Nanomaterial synthesis – achieving sub-micron and nano-scale dispersion.
Ceramics and metallurgy – mixing, grinding, and mechanical alloying of advanced materials.
Pharmaceutical and chemical research – formulation studies and sample preparation.
Pigments, inks, and catalysts – uniform particle size distribution for consistent performance.
Q1: What distinguishes the vertical configuration from horizontal or planetary types?
A: The vertical design minimises footprint while maintaining strong centrifugal forces, improving jar balance and energy efficiency.
Q2: Can this mill be used for both dry and wet milling?
A: Yes. All models support dry and wet operation modes, suitable for various powder or slurry-based materials.
Q3: How fine can the particles be milled?
A: Under optimised parameters and suitable media, the mill can achieve particle sizes down to < 100 nm.
Q4: Are the jars interchangeable between models?
A: Yes. Most jars up to 2 L are cross-compatible, provided the same holder design and revolution radius are used.
Q5: What maintenance is required for long-term use?
A: Clean jars after each use, check roller bearings regularly, and ensure balanced jar loading to extend lifespan.
