Cell Lab High-Energy Vertical Cryogenic Planetary Ball Mill Machine [0.4L, 1L, Liquid Nitrogen Cooling]

Precision cryogenic milling for temperature-sensitive materials

The Cell Lab High-Energy Vertical Cryogenic Planetary Ball Mill is designed for ultra-fine, low-temperature milling of heat-sensitive materials such as polymers, elastomers, pharmaceuticals, and composite powders.
Equipped with a 15 L liquid nitrogen cooling system, it ensures stable cryogenic conditions throughout high-energy milling, preventing heat-induced degradation, oxidation, or unwanted phase transformations.

Supporting both 0.4 L and 1 L capacities, this cryogenic planetary mill combines programmable control, gear-driven stability, and a robust stainless-steel structure, making it ideal for material science, battery innovation, nanotechnology, and chemical engineering research.

Key Features

  • Integrated Cryogenic Cooling System – Built-in 15 L liquid nitrogen tank maintains sub-zero conditions to prevent polymer melting and chemical degradation.

  • High-Energy Milling Performance – Reaches up to 1160 RPM (0.4 L model) and 670 RPM (1 L model) with programmable intervals, achieving particle sizes down to 0.1 µm.

  • Versatile Jar Compatibility – Supports 50 mL, 100 mL, and 250 mL jars in stainless steel, zirconia, agate, alumina, or tungsten carbide.

  • Secure and Low-Noise Operation – Stable gear-drive transmission, anti-vibration base, and transparent viewing window ensure safe operation in cryogenic conditions.

  • Built for Research Excellence – Trusted by global research institutions (NASA, Purdue, Columbia, UC system), compliant with ISO 9001 and CE standards.

Applications & Industries

Cell Lab cryogenic planetary mills are widely applied in:

  • Battery research and solid-state materials – preventing oxidation and phase transition of active compounds.

  • Polymer and rubber processing – embrittlement and micronisation of elastomers without melting.

  • Pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors – cold milling of sensitive compounds and drug intermediates.

  • Nanomaterial and alloy R&D – producing uniform nanoparticles under temperature-controlled conditions.

  • Advanced materials and catalysts – achieving homogeneous dispersion without heat damage.

FAQ

Q1: Why use a cryogenic planetary ball mill instead of a standard one?
A: Cryogenic systems maintain low temperatures, preventing melting, oxidation, or chemical decomposition of heat-sensitive materials.

Q2: Can it operate continuously during liquid nitrogen refill?
A: Yes. The external nitrogen tank design allows refilling without interrupting milling.

Q3: What materials are suitable for cryogenic milling?
A: Polymers, rubbers, biological materials, thermoplastics, and pharmaceuticals are ideal candidates.

Q4: Can I perform both wet and dry milling?
A: Absolutely. The mill supports dry, wet, and cryogenic modes, depending on experimental needs.

Q5: How should the jars be selected for cryogenic use?
A: Use stainless steel or zirconia jars for maximum thermal stability and resistance to thermal shock.
