High-hardness tungsten carbide pressing dies for robust pellet formation in powder metallurgy & material analysis
Cell Lab Hard Alloy Pressing Die Sets are manufactured from tungsten carbide (hard alloy) to deliver exceptional hardness and wear resistance. Designed for compressing powders into solid pellets under high pressure, these dies are essential for powder metallurgy, solid-state research, and analytical sample preparation.
Compared to standard steel dies, tungsten carbide offers significantly higher hardness (HRC85–90), improved durability, and reduced risk of deformation under repeated stress. Available in 5 mm, 15 mm, and 25 mm diameters, these die sets ensure reliable pellet formation for laboratories requiring precision and extended service life.
Tungsten carbide construction — Superior hardness and durability (HRC85–90).
High-pressure capability — Designed for reliable compression of ceramics, metals, and hard powders.
Multiple cavity sizes — Available in 5 mm, 15 mm, and 25 mm diameters.
Enhanced longevity — Outperforms standard steel dies in resistance to wear and cracking.
Versatile applications — Suitable for powder metallurgy, spectroscopy, ceramics, and pharmaceutical research.
| Product No. | Reference Sample Size | Cavity Depth (mm) | Die Material | Indenter Hardness | Dimensions (mm) | Weight |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| CL0635 | Φ5 mm (0.2") | 30 | Tungsten Carbide (Hard Alloy) | HRC85–90 | Φ43 × 93 | 0.78 kg |
| CL0636 | Φ15 mm (0.6") | 40 | Tungsten Carbide (Hard Alloy) | HRC85–90 | Φ53 × 120 | 1.8 kg |

Powder metallurgy — High-pressure compaction of metallic and ceramic powders.
Analytical chemistry — Sample pellet preparation for spectroscopy and XRF.
Materials science — Research on solid-state materials and composites.
Pharmaceuticals — Pressing powders into uniform compact pellets.
Advanced R&D labs — Situations requiring long-life dies under intensive use.
Q1: Why choose tungsten carbide over steel?
Tungsten carbide offers higher hardness (HRC85–90 vs ~HRC60), superior wear resistance, and longer service life.
Q2: What materials can be pressed?
Suitable for ceramics, metals, halide salts, pharmaceuticals, and other powders requiring high-pressure compaction.
Q3: What is the maximum cavity size available?
This series includes 5 mm, 15 mm, and 25 mm. Larger diameters can be customised on request.
Q4: How should the dies be maintained?
Clean after use, store in a dry place, and apply light oil if unused for long periods to prevent rust.
Q5: Are these dies consumables?
Yes. They are considered consumables; warranty covers only manufacturing defects.
