Compact & High-Energy Milling for Glove Box Applications
The Cell Lab 0.2 L Vertical High Energy Planetary Ball Mill is a glove box-compatible system designed for high-efficiency milling of battery materials, nanomaterials, and sensitive compounds.
With a compact two-section design that fits through glove box antechambers, this mill supports both dry and wet grinding modes with adjustable rotation and revolution speeds.
It accommodates four 50 ml jars and enables dual or quadruple operation for flexible loading. The advanced control system allows programmable milling segments, reversible rotation, and stable speed regulation for ultrafine particle refinement down to ~0.1 µm.
Engineered for use in controlled atmospheres, this system is ideal for laboratories requiring contamination-free, high-energy grinding in compact spaces.
Glove box compatible – compact body (250 × 425 × 280 mm, diagonal 376 mm) fits through standard glove box antechambers.
Dual or quadruple mode – accommodates four 50 ml jars; operates with 2 or 4 jars simultaneously.
Programmable milling control – set milling time, pause intervals, and rotation direction for optimised mixing and dispersion.
High energy efficiency – delivers rotational speeds up to 1160 RPM with 1 : 2 revolution ratio, achieving particle sizes ≈ 0.1 µm.
Stable gear drive system – ensures smooth operation with secure door interlock and safety-transparent viewing window.
Dry & wet milling modes – suitable for powder mixing, homogenisation, and particle size reduction under clean or inert environments.

Cell Lab glove box-compatible planetary mills are widely used in:
Battery R&D – mixing and grinding electrode powders and conductive additives under inert gas.
Nanomaterials & fine ceramics – synthesis of submicron and nanostructured materials.
Alloy and materials science research – high-energy mechanical alloying and composite preparation.
Clean-room environments – glove box integration for oxidation-sensitive or air-reactive materials.
Research laboratories – precision homogenisation, size reduction, and dispersion of high-value powders.
Q1: Can this mill be safely operated inside a glove box?
A: Yes. Its compact two-section structure allows passage through standard glove box antechambers and safe operation in inert gas environments.
Q2: What materials can be processed?
A: Suitable for battery materials, oxides, metals, ceramics, polymers, and nanocomposites—both dry and wet forms.
Q3: How small can the particle size get?
A: Under optimised conditions, particle sizes can be refined to approximately 0.1 µm, depending on jar type and media composition.
Q4: Can jar materials be customised?
A: Yes. Cell Lab provides jars in stainless steel, zirconia, agate, alumina, PTFE, PU, tungsten carbide, and other compatible materials.
Q5: How to ensure safety inside glove boxes?
A: Use with 220 V / 50 Hz power only, and avoid operating under argon with 110 V systems to prevent electrical arcing. Always ensure jars are securely clamped.
