Precision-engineered alloy steel dies for thick pellet preparation in spectroscopy & materials research
Cell Lab Dry Pellet Pressing Die Sets with Deeper Sleeve and Scale Anvil are designed for compressing powders into robust laboratory pellets with greater thickness control. Featuring a scale anvil, these dies allow users to monitor sample load and maintain experimental consistency. The deeper sleeve supports thick pellet formation, making these die sets ideal for demanding laboratory applications.
Constructed from hardened alloy steel (AISI D2 / JIS SKD11 / GB Cr12MoV / DIN 1.2379 equivalent), with Rockwell hardness HRC60–62, these dies provide durability under high pressure. They are widely used for FTIR KBr pellet preparation, as well as in ceramics, minerals, pharmaceuticals, and powder metallurgy.
Deeper sleeve design — Enables preparation of thicker pellets for advanced testing.
Scale anvil included — Provides accurate sample load control for reproducible experiments.
High-strength alloy steel — Hardened tool steel construction ensures long service life.
Versatile pellet sizes — Available in 0.25", 0.4", 0.5", and 0.8" diameters.
Laboratory-ready — Suitable for spectroscopy, materials R&D, and powder compaction.

Infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) — Preparation of KBr pellets for transmission analysis.
Ceramics & powders — Compacting powders into thicker test specimens.
Pharmaceuticals — Tablet and pellet pressing for controlled analysis.
Minerals & metallurgy — Pelletisation of mineral and metallic powders.
Academic & industrial labs — High-precision pressing with reproducible load control.
Q1: Why is the deeper sleeve important?
It allows the preparation of thicker pellets, which are often required for specialised FTIR or material analysis.
Q2: What is the function of the scale anvil?
The scale helps monitor applied sample load, improving reproducibility between experiments.
Q3: Can I use these dies for very fine powders (<50 microns)?
Not recommended. Fine particles may enter die gaps and damage the sleeve.
Q4: What materials can these dies compress?
They are suitable for ceramic, metallic, mineral, and pharmaceutical powders, but best for spectroscopic KBr pellets.
Q5: How should I maintain the die set?
Clean and dry after each use; apply light oil to prevent rust during storage.
