Cell Lab Double-Sided Carbon-Coated Copper Foil [For Battery Cathode Applications]

High-conductivity copper current collector with dual carbon coating for advanced battery systems

The Cell Lab Double-Sided Carbon-Coated Copper Foil is a precision-engineered current collector designed for high-performance lithium-ion batteries, supercapacitors and next-generation energy-storage systems. Featuring a uniform carbon coating on both sides, it enhances electrical conductivity, corrosion resistance and thermal management—ideal for cathode applications requiring stability and low impedance.

This foil provides outstanding adhesion with electrode slurries while maintaining mechanical flexibility and oxidation resistance under repeated thermal cycling. Its optimised surface structure improves charge transfer, enabling higher energy density and longer cycling life across diverse electrochemical chemistries.

Key Features

  • Improved Electrical Conductivity – Carbon coating boosts charge-transfer efficiency across the copper substrate.

  • Enhanced Heat Dissipation – Promotes effective thermal management during high-rate charging and discharging.

  • Larger Reaction Surface – Increased roughness and active surface area strengthen electrochemical performance.

  • Corrosion Protection – Carbon layer prevents oxidation and electrolyte-induced degradation of copper.

  • Mechanical Reinforcement – Double-coated structure resists tearing, curling and deformation under stress.

  • Excellent Chemical Stability – Ensures structural integrity in complex or high-voltage battery chemistries.

FAQ

Q1: What advantage does double-sided coating offer compared to single-sided foil?
A1: It doubles the active contact surface, improving electrical connectivity and reducing interfacial resistance for high-rate performance.

Q2: Can this foil be used for both cathodes and anodes?
A2: It is primarily designed for cathode current collection but can also serve as an anode substrate in symmetric or dual-carbon cells.

Q3: How does the carbon layer affect slurry adhesion?
A3: The roughened carbon surface improves coating adhesion and reduces binder requirements during electrode fabrication.

Q4: Is it suitable for high-temperature processing?
A4: Yes. The coating maintains stability during drying or calendaring up to 150 °C.

Q5: How should the foil be stored?
A5: Keep sealed in a dry, dust-free environment below 40 °C to prevent surface oxidation.
