Cell Lab Copper Foil [High Purity, Optimised Coating Performance] – Battery-Grade Foil for Li-ion Anode Fabrication

High-conductivity copper current collector for lithium-ion battery research and pilot production

The Cell Lab Copper Foil is a high-purity, precision-engineered current collector designed for lithium-ion battery anode coating applications. Manufactured to tight tolerances with uniform surface morphology and superior tensile properties, this foil ensures excellent adhesion, conductivity, and long-term cycling reliability.

Available in 6 μm and 9 μm thicknesses, it supports both high-energy-density and general-purpose R&D applications. Each foil undergoes strict oxidation-resistance and mechanical testing to meet the rigorous standards of laboratory and pilot-scale environments. Optional carbon-coated and custom-width formats are available upon request.

Key Features

Multiple Thickness Options
Available in 6 μm and 9 μm versions to support diverse energy density and mechanical stability requirements.

Superior Surface Uniformity
Drum-side roughness Ra ≤ 0.3 μm ensures even slurry distribution and prevents cracking during electrode drying.

High Mechanical Strength and Elongation
Tensile strength ≥ 294 MPa with elongation ≥ 2.5 % provides robustness during coating, drying, and winding.

Outstanding Oxidation Resistance
Maintains stability after 1 h at 180 °C without visible oxidation, colour change, or surface degradation (9 μm models).

Customisable Dimensions and Coatings
Widths and thicknesses can be tailored to project needs; optional carbon coating available for improved interface stability.

  • Pilot-line coating and calendaring verification

  • Conductive substrates for electrochemical or corrosion studies

  • Industrial-scale anode fabrication and QC testing

FAQ

Q1: Which copper foil thickness is best for lab-scale lithium-ion battery assembly?
The 9 μm foil is standard for general R&D; the 6 μm foil is preferred for high energy density applications.

Q2: Is carbon coating necessary for slurry coating?
Optional. Carbon coating enhances adhesion and interface conductivity, particularly for high-power or Si-based anodes.

Q3: Can I request custom roll dimensions?
Yes. Cell Lab provides fully customisable widths, lengths, and surface finishes to meet specific experimental setups.

Q4: Does the foil oxidise under air exposure?
No oxidation is observed after 1 h at 180 °C; however, long-term storage in dry conditions is recommended.

Q5: What is the purity level of the copper used?
≥ 99.9 % purity (2N9 grade), ensuring minimal metallic contamination and stable electrochemical behaviour.
