Precision heating die set for high-quality FTIR sample preparation
The Cell Lab 2" (50 mm) FTIR Quantitative Heating Die Set is designed for preparing uniform thin-film pellets required in Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. Featuring a double-channel heating system with a wide temperature range (ambient to 400 °C), this die ensures precise temperature control for reproducible sample quality.
Constructed from Cr12MoV alloy tool steel with an indenter hardness of HRC60–62, the die offers outstanding strength, durability, and resistance to wear. Its flat heating design allows preparation of 15–100 μm thick samples, suitable for demanding FTIR applications in materials science, chemistry, and pharmaceuticals.
High-temperature capability — Dual-channel heating with adjustable control up to 400 °C.
Precision FTIR performance — Produces 50 mm flat pellets with consistent thickness (15–100 μm).
Durable alloy steel construction — Made from Cr12MoV (AISI D2 equivalent), hardened to HRC60–62.
Flexible press compatibility — Works with hydraulic, lever, or arbor presses for different laboratory setups.
Laboratory-ready design — Optimised for spectroscopy, thin-film studies, and advanced material analysis.

Q1: What is the advantage of the double-channel heating system?
It provides uniform heat distribution and precise temperature control up to 400 °C, ensuring reproducible pellet quality.
Q2: What thickness of samples can be prepared?
The die can produce thin-film pellets between 15–100 μm, depending on sample material and press settings.
Q3: Which presses are compatible with this die?
It can be used with hydraulic, lever, or arbor presses, depending on the force required.
Q4: What is the recommended maintenance?
Clean after each use, store in a dry environment, and apply protective oil if unused for long periods.
Q5: Is the die covered under warranty?
It is considered a consumable. Warranty only applies to manufacturing defects; normal wear and rust are excluded.
