Cell Lab 3N (99.9%) Magnesium Aluminate (MgAl₂O₄) Pieces Evaporation Materials [3–12 mm]

High-Strength Spinel Material for Optical Coatings, Refractory, and Battery Research

General Description

Cell Lab 3N (99.9%) Magnesium Aluminate (MgAl₂O₄) Pieces, also known as spinel (MAS), are synthetic cubic crystal materials combining high strength, exceptional thermal stability, and chemical inertness. With a melting point of 2,135 °C and excellent shock and corrosion resistance, MgAl₂O₄ is widely used in transparent optical windows, laser domes, refractory linings, and high-temperature furnaces.

Due to its low thermal expansion and high optical transmission (0.2–8 µm), MgAl₂O₄ spinel is also ideal for infrared optics, sapphire fibre coatings, and lithium battery separators. When evaporated, it provides protective and functional coatings that enhance surface durability and oxidation resistance in metals and ceramics.

Key Features

  • High Purity (99.9%) – Ensures minimal contamination for precise thin-film applications.

  • Exceptional Mechanical & Thermal Strength – Operates reliably under extreme heat and stress.

  • High Optical Transparency – Transmits effectively across visible and infrared wavelengths.

  • Superior Corrosion & Shock Resistance – Suitable for harsh industrial and high-power optical environments.

  • Multi-Industry Applications – Used across optics, metallurgy, energy research, and defence sectors.

FAQ

Q1: Why is MgAl₂O₄ preferred over Al₂O₃ for coatings?
MgAl₂O₄ offers better thermal shock resistance and a lower thermal expansion coefficient, making it superior for applications involving rapid temperature changes.

Q2: Can it be used for optical or IR thin-film coatings?
Yes. Its high optical transmission and durability make it ideal for antireflective and protective optical coatings.

Q3: Is MgAl₂O₄ suitable for E-beam evaporation?
Yes, it performs well under E-beam or thermal evaporation, provided temperature and rate are precisely controlled.

Q4: Does Cell Lab provide custom purities or quantities?
Yes. Purity, granule size, and packaging can be tailored to specific R&D or production requirements.
