For ultra-high-temperature melting, alloy casting and advanced material sintering
Cell Lab high-purity zirconia (ZrO₂) crucibles are designed for extreme-temperature applications where alumina crucibles reach their limits. With an exceptional melting point above 2100 °C, zirconia exhibits outstanding wear, corrosion and thermal-shock resistance. These crucibles are ideal for melting precious metals, super-alloys, and high-temperature oxides that require stability and purity beyond 1600 °C.
Each crucible is precision-formed for uniform wall thickness and strength, ensuring reliability in both laboratory and industrial furnaces. When used with compatible lids, they provide superior containment and thermal uniformity for sintering, calcination and crystal growth.
Ultra-high temperature resistance — up to 2100 °C: Suitable for vacuum or nitrogen environments where alumina crucibles fail.
Superior chemical stability: Resists corrosion by molten metals, slags and aggressive chemicals.
Exceptional mechanical strength: High fracture toughness ensures long service life under repeated heating cycles.
Precision-engineered geometry: Provides even heat distribution and consistent melting results.
Customisable dimensions: Tailored sizes and matching covers available upon request for specialised setups.

Q1: What makes zirconia crucibles better than alumina?
A1: Zirconia endures higher temperatures (> 2100 °C) and offers greater chemical stability, making it ideal for precious-metal and super-alloy work.
Q2: Can these crucibles be used in air?
A2: Yes — up to 1800 °C in air. For higher temperatures, a nitrogen or vacuum environment is recommended.
Q3: Do they require pre-heating before use?
A3: Yes. Dry in an oven at 105 °C for 2 hours to remove moisture before the first use.
Q4: Can I purchase lids separately?
A4: Yes. Cell Lab offers matching zirconia or alumina covers for improved containment and heat efficiency.
Q5: Are these crucibles reusable?
A5: Yes, but as consumables they will gradually degrade with use — especially under rapid thermal cycling or aggressive chemistries.
