Rectangular alumina crucibles for chemical calcination and ceramic sample processing
Cell Lab Rectangular Alumina (Al₂O₃) Boat Crucibles are crafted from > 99 % high-purity alumina for stable performance under high temperatures up to 1600 °C.
Their rectangular geometry provides an ideal shape for calcination, powder processing, metal casting, and sample holding in tube furnaces or ovens.
Each crucible offers excellent thermal shock resistance and chemical inertness toward most acids and alkalis, ensuring precise results in repeated heating cycles.
Optional covers are available to reduce contamination and maintain a low-oxygen environment during firing or chemical processing.
High-temperature resistance (≤ 1600 °C): Perfect for calcination and metal melting applications.
Superior chemical stability: Unaffected by most reagents and atmospheric conditions.
Rectangular design: Optimised for uniform heating and efficient powder placement.
> 99 % alumina purity: Ensures low contamination and consistent thermal conductivity.
Customisable dimensions: Tailored sizes and tight tolerances available on request.

Q1: What are rectangular boat crucibles used for?
A1: They are mainly used for holding samples during calcination or metal melting where a flat and shallow geometry is required for even heating.
Q2: Can I order matching covers?
A2: Yes — covers for Al₂O₃ boat crucibles are available separately to minimise sample oxidation or liquid splashes.
Q3: Do I need to pre-dry the crucible before first use?
A3: Yes. Bake at 105 °C for 2 hours to remove moisture and avoid thermal shock.
Q4: What is the recommended heating rate?
A4: ≤ 5 °C /min below 1200 °C and ≤ 4 °C /min above 1200 °C for best durability.
Q5: Are these crucibles covered by warranty?
A5: As consumables, they are not returnable after use but manufacturing defects must be reported within 7 days of delivery.
You may return most new, unopened items within 30 days of delivery for a full refund. We'll also pay the return shipping costs if the return is a result of our error (you received an incorrect or defective item, etc.).
You should expect to receive your refund within four weeks of giving your package to the return shipper, however, in many cases you will receive a refund more quickly. This time period includes the transit time for us to receive your return from the shipper (5 to 10 business days), the time it takes us to process your return once we receive it (3 to 5 business days), and the time it takes your bank to process our refund request (5 to 10 business days).
If you need to return an item, simply login to your account, view the order using the "Complete Orders" link under the My Account menu and click the Return Item(s) button. We'll notify you via e-mail of your refund once we've received and processed the returned item.
We can ship to virtually any address in the world. Note that there are restrictions on some products, and some products cannot be shipped to international destinations.
When you place an order, we will estimate shipping and delivery dates for you based on the availability of your items and the shipping options you choose. Depending on the shipping provider you choose, shipping date estimates may appear on the shipping quotes page.
Please also note that the shipping rates for many items we sell are weight-based. The weight of any such item can be found on its detail page. To reflect the policies of the shipping companies we use, all weights will be rounded up to the next full pound.
