Protective Lids for Safe Calcination and Controlled Atmosphere Processes
Cell Lab high-purity alumina (Al₂O₃) crucible covers are specifically designed for use with our high-form and cylindrical alumina crucibles, providing a protective seal for chemical calcination, metal casting and ceramic sintering applications. Made from > 99 % alumina ceramic, these covers feature high hardness, excellent thermal shock resistance and superior chemical inertness, ensuring stable performance at temperatures up to 1600 °C.
They help minimise material loss during heating and reduce oxidation by creating a low-oxygen environment, making them ideal for controlled atmosphere experiments and precise powder processing tasks.
High Purity Alumina (> 99 %) – Excellent mechanical strength and chemical resistance for reliable laboratory use.
High Temperature Stability – Withstands continuous operation up to 1600 °C without warping or cracking.
Improved Process Control – Reduces sample oxidation and minimises splatter loss during calcination.
Precision-Machined Fit – Compatible with Cell Lab high-form and cylindrical alumina crucibles.
Customisable Dimensions – Sizes and tolerances can be tailored for specific research applications.

Q1: Can these covers be used with non-Cell Lab crucibles?
Yes, they are compatible with most standard high-form and cylindrical alumina crucibles, but please confirm dimensions before purchase.
Q2: Are custom sizes available?
Absolutely. Cell Lab offers custom machining for specific crucible diameters and tolerances on request.
Q3: How should I prepare the cover before first use?
Dry it in an oven at 105 °C for 2 hours to remove moisture before heating. Avoid temperature changes faster than 5 °C per minute below 1200 °C or 4 °C per minute above 1200 °C.
Q4: What is the recommended cleaning procedure?
Cool the cover gradually, then rinse with deionised water or ethanol and dry completely before storage.
