Reliable high-temperature performance for calcination, casting and ceramic sintering
Cell Lab high-purity Alumina (Al₂O₃) crucibles offer exceptional thermal and chemical stability, featuring a melting point above 2000 °C and excellent hardness. The high-form cylindrical design is engineered for uniform heating and consistent calcination results, making it ideal for chemical analysis, ceramic powder preparation and metal casting.
Each crucible is manufactured from > 99 % Al₂O₃ with precise wall thickness control (3–3.5 mm) to ensure dimensional stability under thermal cycling. Optional fitted covers are available to minimise contamination and reduce atmospheric oxidation during high-temperature operations.
High-temperature resistance (≤ 1600 °C): Retains mechanical integrity and shape at extreme temperatures.
Excellent chemical stability: Resistant to most acids, alkalis and molten metals.
High hardness and wear resistance: Durable for repeated calcination and melting processes.
Uniform thermal distribution: High-form geometry supports even heating and precise temperature control.
Customisable designs available: Covers and tight-tolerance dimensions offered on request for specialised laboratory use.

Q1: What is the difference between high-form and low-form crucibles?
A1: High-form crucibles have a taller profile, ideal for reducing spillage and heat loss during extended calcination, while low-form types suit rapid evaporation or short-term fusion tasks.
Q2: Do I need to pre-dry the crucible before use?
A2: Yes. Pre-heat in a 105 °C oven for 2 hours to remove moisture before first use to prevent thermal shock.
Q3: Can I use this crucible for molten metal experiments?
A3: Yes. Al₂O₃ crucibles are suitable for non-ferrous metals and many oxidising melts below 1600 °C.
Q4: How should I cool the crucible after heating?
A4: Avoid rapid cooling. Maintain ≤ 5 °C per minute below 1200 °C and ≤ 4 °C per minute above 1200 °C to reduce cracking risk.
Q5: Are covers available for this model?
A5: Yes – matching high-purity Al₂O₃ covers are available separately to create a low-oxygen calcination environment.
