Protective ceramic lids for stable, controlled high-temperature operations
Cell Lab high-purity alumina (Al₂O₃) crucible covers are engineered to pair perfectly with rectangular boat crucibles. They offer outstanding thermal stability, mechanical strength and corrosion resistance, providing a reliable seal to reduce contamination, prevent spillage and maintain a low-oxygen atmosphere during calcination, metal casting or ceramic material synthesis.
With > 99 % purity and a maximum working temperature of 1600 °C, these covers are ideal for use in laboratories, furnaces and high-temperature processing environments across the materials, metallurgical and chemical industries.
High Purity > 99 % Al₂O₃: Ensures superior thermal stability and chemical inertness even under extreme conditions.
Excellent Thermal Shock Resistance: Withstands rapid temperature changes without cracking or deformation.
Low Oxygen Operation: Maintains a controlled environment to minimise oxidation and contamination during calcination.
Precise Fit for Rectangular Crucibles: Reduces heat loss and prevents liquid splashes during heating processes.
Customisable Dimensions: Covers can be manufactured to specific sizes to match any crucible type on request.

Q1: Why use a crucible cover during calcination or sintering?
A1: It reduces oxygen exposure and prevents splattering or loss of volatile substances, ensuring more consistent processing results.
Q2: Can these covers be used with non-rectangular crucibles?
A2: Yes. Custom round or elliptical designs are available upon request to fit different crucible geometries.
Q3: How should I prepare the cover before first use?
A3: Dry the cover in an oven at 105 °C for 2 hours to remove moisture, then heat/cool slowly (< 5 °C per minute below 1200 °C).
Q4: Are these covers resistant to acidic or alkaline corrosion?
A4: They are resistant to most chemicals but not recommended for use with strong acids or alkalis.
Q5: Is there a matching alumina crucible series available?
A5: Yes. Cell Lab offers a complete range of high-purity Al₂O₃ crucibles in various shapes and capacities for perfect compatibility.
